Calgary Driveway Contractors
A Decorative Concrete Driveway
Building An Exposed Driveway

From Rebar to Concrete Sealing
In Aspen, Calgary, this concrete driveway was installed. This driveway had a unique look and design due to the pie-shaped lot, and we thought it turned out fantastic. We thought we’d take you on a photo tour of the process. Visit our Calgary Concrete Driveway Contractor page for more information on our preparation work. Once the driveway has been excavated, gravelled, formed, and is ready to be poured, we begin.
All of our rebars are installed prior to the completion of the forming to ensure that the driveway, despite being poured in sections, functions as a single unified concrete slab, with the continuous rebar holding everything solidly together. This ensures that no borders detach themselves from the main sections over time.

The Concrete Pour
This concrete driveway was poured with the intention of sandblasting the heavier inner sections and lightly sandblasting the outer sections. We treated the surface with a retarder to soften it and prepare it for concrete sandblasting at a later date.

Ready for Sandblasting

The concrete driveway slab is now completely poured and ready to be sandblasted. Once sandblasted, you can see the difference; it’s now beautiful and awaits final sealing to bring it to life and complete this project.
Sandblasting Completed

The Final Product

The completed work. A fabulous concrete driveway with the inner sections sandblasted to a depth consistent with exposed aggregate concrete and the concrete banding finished with a light architectural sandblast finish. The driveway appears significantly different in colour when viewed from the ground versus when viewed from the drone, so we thought we’d share both images. The colours are not altered; however, light reflection has a significant effect on concrete images. This driveway was constructed entirely of natural grey concrete with no colour added.
